Surerus Murphy Joint Venture
Surerus Murphy is a multi-disciplinary organization that builds world-class energy infrastructure.
J. Murphy & Sons Ltd., founded by John Murphy during WWII in London, England, and Surerus Pipeline Inc., founded by Brian Surerus in Canada in 1969, are parent companies of the Surerus Murphy Joint Venture organization. As a collaboration between Surerus Pipeline Inc. and J. Murphy & Sons Ltd., Surerus Murphy builds large-scale utility and infrastructure projects like pipelines, compressor stations, meter stations and more. The organization works throughout western Canada and recently acquired a US company whose operations mirror its own– WHC Energy Services, now called WHC – A Surerus Murphy Company.
Surerus Murphy expanded to Spruce Grove in 2023 at a time when the organization needed more space to service and store its heavy equipment, and to provide fabrication services for its Infrastructure arm. Spruce Grove is an ideal location to host these services as it provides access to skilled tradespeople, major supply chains and easy logistics to many of the projects located in northwest Alberta and northeast B.C.
Surerus Murphy’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its investments in 1252 solar panels installed on the shop roof. These solar panels generate 512 KW DC and supplement the shop’s energy needs. Surerus Murphy has also invested in workforce readiness by donating a high-tech CAT simulator to NAIT’s construction program, equipping future operators with essential skills.
Community involvement is a priority for the organization. Its investment program supports initiatives in sustainability, education, health and wellness.
Surerus Murphy views Spruce Grove as a long-term base for growth as it grows its Infrastructure team. This growth benefits the organization and the community.
