Utilizing Local Expertise

Access to skilled labour has bumped to the top of the list of factors site-selectors seek in a given location.

Spruce Grove's labourshed is unusually robust. As part of the greater Edmonton Metropolitan Region our City is a short commuting distance for more than 300,000 area residents. Thus, it has become a destination for skilled workers in a wide variety of fields.  With enhanced regional commuter transit, employers are better able to access the talent they need.

The Spruce Grove campus of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology brings critical post-secondary training to the region - including the advanced crane and hoisting equipment operator and foundation drill rig operator programs.

World-class education and training resources in nearby Edmonton are growing the region’s skilled talent pool.  The University of Alberta is one of the top artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) research universities in the world, and is home to DeepMind, one of the world’s leading AI research companies.

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is one of the largest polytechnic institutions in Canada offering programs that meet demands of Alberta’s industries.  NAIT is preparing to relocate all of their specialized trades programs to the 15 acre Spruce Grove site.

MacEwan University, Concordia University College, and Norquest College are other Edmonton based recognized post-secondary institutions offering a wealth of learning and skill development opportunities to students throughout the region.
