Spruce Grove is revitalizing the downtown, making a significant investment to make the area more attractive, accessible and vibrant. Beautification elements like the addition of trees and landscaping, additional lighting and decorative cement will make the downtown area more attractive. This, along with the addition of benches and the connectivity to Columbus Park, will make downtown Spruce Grove more of a tourist destination. This will especially be the case as more events and festivals come to Columbus Park’s new and modern stage.

Parking for Tourists and Spruce Grove’s Residents

The City retained Bunt & Associates Engineering Ltd. to complete a Parking Management Plan for the City Centre that will ensure residents and tourists have places to park when frequenting the downtown area. “Since we expect a significant increase in visitors to our downtown, it was important for us to prepare,” said Dave Walker, Director, Economic & Business Development.

This initiative will:

  • Quantify the existing and future projected supply and demand for parking,
  • Provide recommendations to optimize the current supply of on-street parking, and;
  • Provide a strategic long-term plan that will allow the City to manage parking needs associated with future growth and revitalization as intended in the new City Centre Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) that was approved by Council on April 27, 2020.
