Spruce Grove’s City Centre Area Redevelopment Plan was passed by Council in 2020. There are several aspects of the project that will be completed by the end of 2023. These include above and underground improvements and enhancements that are both practical and beautiful. For example, some of the streetscape improvements include landscaping to make the downtown area more attractive, while others include services upgrades.

Timeline for Spruce Grove’s City Centre Revitalization Initiative

The planning for the downtown revitalization started in 2020 with construction beginning in 2021. Construction started on May 16th on Phase 1 of the City Centre Area Redevelopment Plan (CCARP). This phase involves the rehabilitation of underground utilities and streetscape improvements for McLeod Avenue between King Street and Queen Street, as well as Main Street between First Avenue and Church Road.

Throughout this process there will be strategic road closures but the city is trying to manage them to ensure that areas are closed down one at a time for limited disruptions. You can click here to view updates on what roads are closing when.
