Spruce Grove is looking for public input on the developing Urban Agriculture Plan.
Through July to the end of this year, Spruce Grove will be working on their Urban Agriculture Plan as a member of the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB). This is part of a 30-year growth plan for the Edmonton Metropolitan Region that aims to boost the regional economy by an estimated $10 billion through means of reduce food costs, increasing food security, and more.
“This is really an opportunity for us to identify opportunities to support and implement urban agricultural pursuits in Spruce Grove,” said Carol Bergum, Director of Planning and Development in Spruce Grove. “It will help with access to locally grown food, promote resiliency, reduce food costs, increase food security, and potentially simulate the local economy and reduce our carbon footprint.”
