In spite of a difficult year, it was one filled with several positives for the people of Spruce Grove.

“We certainly want to put 2020 behind us. When we finished our last council meeting we said we want to adjourn 2020 completely,” said Stuart Houston, mayor of Spruce Grove. “A significant part of our work this year was focused on the city’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our top priority has always been the health, safety and well-being of our community and staff and we believe we’ve demonstrated that in many ways.”

While much work revolved around the pandemic, Houston noted improvements and developments in several areas earlier in the spring, including offering residents several options to help reduce the economic impact of Covid-19. That included eliminating a proposed tax increase of 3.9 per cent, which resulted in more than $1.6 million in savings to Spruce Grove residents.
