Bee Maid Honey

The Alberta Honey Producer’s Co-operative (AHPC) has a rich legacy dating back to the 1940s. What sets Bee Maid Honey apart is their distinctive cooperative business model. Through a collaborative effort with the Manitoba and Alberta Honey Producer Cooperatives, they process, market, and ship a diverse range of liquid and creamed honey products under the Bee Maid brand. Additionally, they provide their honey for private label, food service, and industrial markets.

The cooperative members, who are the actual beekeepers nurturing the Honey Bee colonies, also share ownership of the Bee Maid brand.

In 1993, AHPC relocated from Edmonton to Spruce Grove into a 26,000 square-foot space for warehousing and offices. In 2024, AHPC completed their second expansion which significantly enhances processing and packing capabilities, and houses a Bee Supplies Outlet. As of today, their facility is five times its initial size at a remarkable 141,000 square feet.

This plant is a hive of activity, employing approximately 50 individuals. Both the Spruce Grove and Winnipeg facilities are an epicenter of honey processing and packaging, accounting for approximately one-third of Canada’s total honey production.

The Spruce Grove facility serves as one of the cornerstones of Bee Maid’s operations, not only processing Canadian honey, but also housing a blow mould facility for producing the majority of bottles used in packaging.
