Protection of Privacy Act

Invest Spruce Grove is the website of Economic and Business Development for the City of Spruce Grove. The City is committed to being open and transparent while protecting personal information in accordance with Alberta law.

On June 11, 2025, the Government of Alberta replaced the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) with two laws: the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA). These Acts update access and privacy laws to reflect today’s digital environment and strengthen accountability for how information is managed.

Protection of privacy is a fundamental right, and the City has developed policies to reinforce its responsibilities. As outlined in the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), public bodies are required to establish and maintain a Privacy Management Program (PMP).
